    Things to do in Rochester

    Music, Art, and Culture
    1. Rochester International Jazz Festival: From June 19th-27th, Rochester will host its 23rd annual Jazz Festival. While many of the festival shows are ticketed or club pass only, there will be two free, outdoor stages on June 20th: The Jazz Street Stage and the Wegmans Pavilion. There will also be a free Jam Session at the Hyatt Regency Rochester Downtown. As a bonus, check out the free 6x6 exhibition at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center, located around the corner from the Jazz Street Stage
    2. The Memorial Art Gallery (MAG): Our guests will have free access to the MAG on the day of our wedding, from 11am-4pm. Home to a beautiful collection of modern and pre-modern, we particularly love the small exhibition of Albrecht Dürer, found on the second floor of the museum.
    3. The George Eastman House: Located on the estate of George Eastman, the founder of Kodak, the museum is one of the oldest photography museum and one of the oldest film archives. Explore George Eastman’s historic mansion and gardens, and visit the three temporary exhibitions on photography and cinema.
    4. The Susan B. Anthony Museum: Take a tour of the former home of Susan B. Anthony, one of the leaders of the Suffragist movement. You can also visit her burial place in Mount Hope Cemetery.
    5. The Strong Museum of Play: If you are traveling with children (or wish to feed your inner child), you may enjoy a visit to the National Museum of Play. The museum holds exhibits devoted to the history and exploration of play (including an extensive Barbie collection), as well as interactive games and learning experiences.
    6. The Little Theatre: The premier cultural center for the presentation of American independent, international, and classic films — as well as music and visual arts — for the greater Rochester community.

    Outdoor Activities and Site-seeing

    1. Highland Park: Walk around the beautiful paths of the Highland Park Conservancy. Highlights include the Reservoir, the highest point in Rochester, and the sunken garden, hidden behind the Warner Castle, just off Reservoir Ave.
    2. Lake Ontario: Drive twenty minutes north of the city to reach Lake Ontario (you can also take bus 22L to Charlotte Beach if you are traveling without a car). On a clear day, you might be able to see Canada.
    3. High Falls: The highest of three waterfalls along the Genesee River, High Falls is a 96-foot waterfall in the center of downtown Rochester. Enjoy striking views of High Falls from the Pont de Rennes pedestrian bridge, or from the rooftop of the Genesee Brew House.
    4. The Rochester Red-Wings: Catch a game at Innovation Field.
    5. Take a day trip to visit Brockport, NY. You can stop by the Lift Bridge Book Shop, walk along the Erie Canal, and enjoy the small-town charm.

    Gifts

Having lived together for much of the past year, we are fortunate to already have many of the appliances, items, and goods needed for starting our life together, and, therefore, will not have a wedding registry. Having you at our wedding is a gift in itself, and we are looking forward to celebrating with you.
